By harvest time, Multani Chaunsa typically registers 20–22° Brix (sugar content), among the highest of any commercial mango variety in the world.
2. Cool nights despite hot days
The crucial factor isn't just heat — it's the day-night temperature differential. Multan summers have 35–45°C daytime highs but drop to 28–32°C overnight. This 13–17°C swing is what triggers the formation of volatile aromatic compounds in the fruit (terpenes, esters, lactones — the molecules responsible for mango's complex perfume).
Regions with smaller day-night differences (like coastal Karachi or coastal Mumbai) produce excellent mangoes too, but with different flavor profiles — cleaner, less aromatically complex.
